ART SYLLABUS 2026
Reflection:Theme Introduction: Reflection
What does reflection mean to you?
Reflection can be many things. It might be the image you see when you look into a mirror or a puddle after
the rain. It could be a memory you think back on, a moment that changed you, or a feeling you want to
understand better. Reflection is about looking closely—at the world around you, and at your own thoughts,
experiences, and imagination.
For this competition, we invite you to explore reflection in your own unique way. There is no single right
answer—only your ideas, your creativity, and your voice.
You might choose to explore:
• Physical reflections – mirrors, water, glass, shadows, light
• Personal reflection – memories, growing up, lessons learned, identity
• Emotional reflection – feelings, moods, or how experiences have shaped you
• Nature’s reflections – landscapes in water, seasons, or changes over time
• Imaginative reflections – alternate worlds, dreamlike mirror images, or fantasy interpretations
You can express your ideas through a wide range of creative mediums, including:
• Writing – short stories, poems, diary entries, or descriptive pieces
• Drawing & Painting – pencil, ink, watercolour, acrylic, digital art
• Mixed Media – collage, photography, layered materials
• 3D Work – sculpture, model-making, recycled materials
• Digital Creations – illustration, graphic design, or animation
Think about how you can show reflection, not just describe it. Could you play with symmetry? Contrast past
and present? Use light, colour, or words to create a mood?
Most importantly—be imaginative, be personal, and be bold. Your reflection is yours alone.
NB: KS1 may only use an A4 sheet for their entries.
